“Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming. When nothing is certain, anything is possible.” –Mandy Hale
Transition…we all experience transition in different seasons, in relationships with loved ones, and also in our career path. We all go through numerous changes in our personal lives. It can be quite nerve racking at first, but later we happen to find ourselves to be on an exhilarating journey. In the midst of going through change, it is best to not overthink the process. In the end, everything will turn out the way they’re supposed to. It’s important to let go, enjoy the NOW, and diligently express gratitude in the midst of the roller coaster ride.
Moving to an unfamiliar place may seem daunting and overwhelming, but your mind, body and soul will learn to adjust and find normalcy over time. Faithful Artisans transitioned from one space to another, and there were many fears to overcome before we started to find our footing. Although we are still dwelling in Arts District DTLA, we transitioned from a loft that was 1100 sq. ft. to a massive warehouse space that is 3750 sq. ft., which came with many uncertainties. Will we be able to fill the space with the inspiring décor? How will we go about getting the right people to join our Dwellership? What will happen if people don’t show up to our events? How will we finance everything? It was a whirlwind of non-stop questions. We, As We Dwell/Faithful Artisans, are now in our 8th month, and with a lot of patience and perseverance, we have learned to find peace in our new dwelling place.
Relationships are not easy. It takes a lot of intentionality and devotion to maintain healthy relationships with loved ones. More often than we would like, we find some friendships become distant over time. Mutual interests change, personalities shift, and long term goals are no longer in alignment. It’s ok if you let go of those relationships and let life takes it course. This transition will provide much needed room for growth and transformation. Often times, distance and separation help people uncover new and old parts about themselves, which can bring forth breakthrough and freedom. You never know, after some time passes, the relationships can be restored and come back in alignment if the relationships are meant to be. However with any transition, it’s always important to have healthy closer as you move forward without looking back. Every morning, it is the start of something new, and every transition, it is the start of a new chapter.
Seasons are always changing around us, and the change is inevitable. The fall leaves are changing colors, the wintery clouds and winds start moving in, the spring flowers are blooming, and the summery sun is scorching hot. At the start of each season, we often find ourselves complaining about the weather or making comparisons of which is better. However, if we are able to celebrate the transition and not look to the past, we may find ourselves adjusting quickly and enjoying the present season.
It all starts with you! You have to make the choice to embrace the change, for better or worse. Everything is an experience, and it’s a necessary learning process that helps us to become a better version of ourselves. It’s okay to fall down a couple of times. Just remember to get back up on your feet, dust yourself off, and take one step forward. Breathe, take one more step, and don’t look back.

When the thought of summer comes to mind, most people think of friends, good, swimming and relaxing. Well, a summer bbq party would be the perfect way to combine all of these things together!
The first step in planning this bbq would be finding the perfect location. There are so many potential locations to host this party. You can go to a nice park, a lake or even your own backyard. If you don’t have a pool, then you can buy a large inflatable pool or play games with water guns or water balloons to cool down in the summer heat.
The second step is to invite some good company. Now, this seems like the simplest step, but you’d be surprised by how hard it can be to choose who to invite. You can make this a family party, a party for you and your coworkers to get to know one another outside of a work space or just a small hangout with your closest friends. If you want this to be a bigger party, then you can tell everyone to bring their own guests too.
The third step is to plan & prepare what type of food and drinks you’re going to serve. Besides the essential hamburgers and hot dogs, skewers and bacon wrapped asparagus would be the perfect tummy fillers. And don’t forget about snacks! Every bbq needs watermelon, chips with dip and vegetable platter. For drinks, you can make some refreshing juices, mojitos and lemonade. My favorite drink is to blend some coconut water, watermelon and ice for a refreshing watermelon slushie.
The final step is to sit back and have some fun! Besides the prep, there isn’t too much to stress about once the party starts. All you have to do now is enjoy some games and conversation over good food with the ones you care about most.
I hope your heart (and stomach) is full after you host your amazing summer bbq!

When there are so many options, we find ourselves sticking to what's comfortable and familiar. Try something new this summer and connect with new people at new spaces. Here are a few things we came up with to give you a little jump start as summer begins.
10. Watch an outdoor movie:
Something that locals in LA love to do is go out and enjoy a free, outdoor movie screening. It’s a fun way to enjoy the summer breeze with a group of friends. You can find listings of every screening here.
9. Go on an adventurous hike:
This is so LA, but there are so many amazing trails around here, it’s no wonder that people love to hike. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can hike to the Hollywood Sign or if you want a beautiful view, you can hike to the Griffith Observatory and enjoy all of Los Angeles.
8. Explore DTLA Arts District with your camera
One thing that LA is known for is its amazing Arts District. Almost every wall is covered in creative, picture-worthy graffiti art made by local artists. People love to come here on a daily basis to check out cool local shops or take pictures with the amazing art here. Don't forget to take a pose and post your captures on Instagram!
7. Visit local art galleries and museums
LA is a city full of so many creative people. There are free art galleries that are put out almost every week and they are easy to find if you just walk around the DTLA or Arts District area. It’s an amazing opportunity to get to know local artists and become inspired by them.
6. Indulge in delicious eats
One thing that locals take pride in is LA’s amazing food. From street tacos (personal favorite: Leo’s Taco Truck) to refreshing juices in Thaitown, LA is full of authentic food from all over the world. See @dineLA on Instagram to check out the hottest food spots.
5. Plan a picnic at the park with friends and family.
There are so many parks in LA and the best way to take advantage of these parks is to go and have a picnic with your friends. Pack some refreshing watermelon, sandwiches and drinks and enjoy a nice, summer day.
4. Take creative workshops and expand your skills
Like mentioned earlier, LA is a city full of amazingly creative people and luckily, these creatives love to come together and host workshops. If you want to get into a new hobby or discover a new passion consider taking a few workshops this summer. Faithful Artisans hosts a new workshop every week!
3. Have a beach day
Okay, every “Fun Thing to do During Summer” list has something about the beach, but if you’re in LA for the summer you must go to on of the beaches. LA is known for its beautiful beaches such as Santa Monica, Malibu or Venice Beach. You can go to just relax in the sand, walk around the pier or bike on the beach to explore and get a bit of exercise.
2. Grab tickets to a concert and enjoy live music
With all the biggest recording studios and companies, it’s no wonder why LA is known for its music scene. There are so many local artists that put on several concerts a night to share their work with the public. It’s a creative way to go out with your friends and enjoy a night discovering new music and exploring LA in the process.
1. Check out LA’s beautiful night lights at the Griffith Observatory
The Griffith Observatory is known for its beautiful view that overlooks all of LA. Most people like to hike there during the day because it’s great exercise and perfect for taking pictures. However, if you go at night, you’ll be able to experience the beautiful city lights while enjoying deep conversations or even having some alone time with your thoughts.

It’s always such a love-hate relationship with Spring Cleaning. Sure, the process sucks, but the feeling of accomplishment as you look around your squeaky clean, organized, and newly decorated room is priceless. Cleaning relieves so much stress and helps you create a space where you can come to after a long day and just relax. I know that after a full day of work, when I walk into my room and see a mess, I immediately get more stressed out and leave so I don’t have to deal with it. We need to take care of the spaces we live in so that when we come back, we come back to a soothing and joy-inducing atmosphere.
Spring Cleaning is the perfect way to start fresh and revamp your space for a more productive and encouraging season. You can go online to websites such as Pinterest or even go out and visit some of your favorite shops and see how they decorate their spaces for some inspiration. My FAVORITE way to Spring Clean is to just move everything around, buy some new furniture & decorations and just experiment. Yeah, it’s a lot of work, but on a day where there’s nothing much going on, experimenting gets your creative juices flowing and helps you figure out what kind of style/ aesthetic fits you best. This is exactly what we do here at As We Dwell. Come check out some of our vintage furnishings for some new inspiration and to see the new layout of our space.
Just as we have to clean and upkeep our living spaces, we must also do the same with our bodies. If you are like me and had a rough winter full of indulging and unhealthy eating, then the perfect way to treat your body is to detox with a transformation of your fridge. Let’s go grocery shopping and buy some healthy food (fruits, veggies, nuts, Kombucha, etc.) and avoid the chips/ sweets section. If you don’t have any unhealthy foods, there won’t be any to snack on. Yes, it’s important to treat yourself, but it’s also important to remember that our bodies are our ULTIMATE living spaces and we must treat it with the best love and care.
Let’s not forget a very important part of ourselves: our soul. If we have an unhealthy soul, our own wellbeings will suffer and we won’t be as happy/ mentally healthy as we could be. Yes, having a cleaner, more organized space will provide a tranquil space to come home to and yes, a healthier body will make you feel more energized and better about yourself. But, while trying to figure out how to revamp your living space and live healthier, don’t neglect your soul. Try picking up one or two new passions, I decided to get back into DIY projects and cooking. Don’t feel guilty if you indulge in that cookie once in a while and remember that it’s perfectly fine to say no to things you don’t like or don’t want to do. A clean, organized space and healthy body leads to a healthier soul and a healthier soul leads to a happier you.

Valentine’s Day is all about showering your special someone in gifts and special acts of services. I personally love this holiday because of all the candy I receive from my friends and I love any excuse to gift people I care about with cute little notes and goodies. There are so many people in our lives that deserve our extra love and care- including ourselves. We are far too often so preoccupied with taking care of and loving those around us, we forget that we need to practice self-love and care.
If you are anything like me then you can relate to putting yourself on the back burner and putting the needs of others in front of your own. We forget to take care of ourselves because we are busy taking care of others. I’m not saying that we should totally disregard others and only care about ourselves, but it’s important to remember that we need love too and to take some time to really treat ourselves out for a change. If you’re a huge fan of Parks and Recreation, then you know that Tom Haverford and Donna Meagle are especially known for their annual “Treat Yo Self” days. These are the days that they take off to go and do things for themselves. In the show, they do some crazy things to treat themselves like flying out to Beverly Hills from Indiana. As fun as that sounds, we don’t need to empty out our bank accounts or do something extravagant in order to treat ourselves, so here are 5 practical ways to love yourself this Valentine’s day:

noun // mind·ful·ness // ˈmīn(d)-fəl-nəs
When one maintains a moment-by-moment calm or unstressed awareness of one’s own feelings, thoughts, actions, and surroundings.
As we make the transition from 2016 to 2017, we are realizing the importance of mindfulness. This realization was inspired by our recent Mindful Mommies Creative Workshop.
In the workshop, we not only discussed the importance of being mindful, but also various benefits in your emotional and physical health.
Benefits of Mindfulness:
Now that we went over the benefits of mindfulness, here are 10 steps to take towards prosperous mindfulness:
These are but a handful of steps that you can take towards being more mindful. Don’t be afraid to get creative and think of more ways that you can go deeper in mindfulness! Remember that it’s not about the direct results/ benefits that you receive, but it’s more about the process of becoming more aware of yourself and your surroundings. As we continue in 2017, let’s hope and pray for a productive new year of prosperous mindfulness!

After partnering with MaeDay Rescue for our 2nd Doggy+Me: Coffee Date, we compiled a list of reasons why you may want to consider adopting a dog/pet. If you're looking to bring in a furry addition to your family, we believe adoption would be the way to go for 10 reasons:
1. You're making a choice to save a life because millions of dogs have been abandoned.
2. You're providing a forever home for these shelter & rescue dogs.
3. You're offering healing and restoration for the dogs who experienced trauma.
4. You're one less person encouraging puppy mills and breeders to produce more dogs.
5. It will cost you less. You are usually only responsible to pay for vaccination shots.
6. You will have a special and unique meeting/adoption story that you get to hold onto and cherish.
7. Your home will thank you because they bring overwhelming joy, and they are often the best bodyguards.
8. They will keep you active because they need their daily exercise.
9. You'll be getting a lovable, playful, and cuddly best friend, that will remain loyal because you saved their life.
10. All pets are good for your health, but adoptees offer an extra boost!
